I love coffee drinks whether its this Iced Coffee with Ice Cream , Ruby Chocolate Latte , Starbucks Copycat Eggnog Latte or this Lavender Frappuccino . During the cooler months, I love this seasonal pistachio latte which is on the starbucks menu in the winter months.
What is Pistachio Latte?
A pistachio latte is a coffee-based beverage that incorporates the flavor of pistachios.
It’s a variation of a classic latte, which consists of espresso and steamed milk. In a pistachio latte, the milk is often flavored with pistachio syrup or a pistachio paste, which imparts the distinct and nutty flavor of pistachios to the drink. The espresso provides the caffeine kick, while the steamed milk adds a creamy and smooth texture. The pistachio flavor can vary in intensity, depending on the amount of pistachio syrup or paste used.
Pistachio lattes have gained popularity and are often served hot, but can also be enjoyed iced for a refreshing twist.
Flavours of pistachio lattes vary depending on the coffee shop or café you visit.
What does this perfect Pistachio Latte taste like?
The pistachio latte taste is warm and nutty and slightly sweet. There is a subtle pistachio flavoring which complements the creamy milk.
Starbucks Pistachio Latte
The Starbucks version, served hot, iced, or as a frappuccino, combines espresso and milk with pistachio and is finished with a salted browned butter topping.
The starbucks copycat pistachio latte recipe, found on their own website, is prepared with a homemade pistachio syrup with almond extract and rich brown butter topping.

Why you will love this coffee recipe

Pistachio Latte list of ingredients
Pistachio cream – I use Pisti Sicilian Pistachio Cream spread. It is essentially a sweet pistachio sauce and is made from real pistachios, sugar, milk powder and olive oil. You may find it in a grocery store but definitely online.
If you do not have this, use pistachio nut butter. You can easily make homemade pistachio butter or store-bought.
Alternatively, use a pistachio coffee syrup such as Monin.
Milk – use the milk of your choice
You can use skimmed (nonfat) or semi skimmed milk. To make it extra creamy, use whole milk or half and half or even cream. I find that whole milk froths up best though.
Use plant-based milk such as oat milk, almond milk, pistachio milk, soy milk
Barista non-dairy milk is best for frothed milk as it is designed to be able to froth.
Note that coconut milk will impart its own flavour
Instant coffee
You can also use a cold brew
Optional
Chopped pistachio as a garnish
Sugar or other sweetener such as maple syrup or brown sugar if you want your drink sweeter.
Equipment
Tall glass or latte glass
Hand held milk frother or milk steamer
French press / Espresso machine / moka pot to prepare shots of espresso

How to make hot Pistachio Latte
Warm milk in a small saucepan over the stove on medium heat or in the microwave until steaming.
Optionally, add a teaspoon of sugar if you want your latte sweet.
Spoon pistachio cream into a latte glass.
Swirl it around if you want to create a patterned effect.

Pour the steaming milk into the glass and top up until 3/4 full.
Froth using a hand held milk frother until you achieve your desired foam and the pistachio sauce and milk is well incorporated

Prepare an espresso shot using a coffee machine or use instant espresso powder to make a strong coffee.
Pour into the milk and mix.
Sprinkle over ground or chopped pistachios and serve immediately.

Pro Tips
Chop as finely as possible or use ground pistachios otherwise they will sink into the foam.
If you do not have a frother, you might be able to use a high speed immersion blender to create froth. Another trick is to add the milk to a mason jar, seal tightly and shake vigorously to create froth.
Add more espresso shots if you want a stronger drink
How to make Iced Pistachio Latte
This is a simple recipe for an iced nutty latte. You do not need to steam or foam the milk but simply mix the espresso, milk and pistachio spread together.
Add pistachio spread to a glass.
Pour over cold milk and mix well.
Now pour in cold coffee
Serve the iced latte topped with ice.
Serving Suggestion
Top with an extra spoon of whipped cream.
I love hot lattes alongside these Pistachio Shortbread Biscuits or try a salted brown butter cookie.
